Welcome to my blog! My name is Mary Ellen Pierce and I want to invite you to Get Jazzed & Joyful about who you are, every day in every way! I believe that no matter what you do in life, it is important to believe in yourself and your goals and to realize it's okay to enjoy the journey and have fun along the way!
Along my journey I have discovered my inner artist to help me create expressions of myself using collage, altered art, mixed media and scrapbook techniques. I have enlisted the aid of my inner cheerleader to keep me motivated to be the Best ME that I can be!
And I want to inspire others to realize that when you get Jazzed and Joyful about being You, then what you do will turn into success, prosperity and happiness!
Believe in Yourself, Anything is Possible!

The Ten Commandments of Self-Esteem

Get Jazzed & Joyful Thought:

I came across a book that I have had and read over the years and I thought it was worth reading again and passing along:
It is The Ten Commandments of Self-Esteem by Dr. Catherine Cardinal-

I.       Thou shalt not consort with people who make thee feel bad about thyself.
II.     Thou shalt cease trying to make sense out of crazy behavior.
III.    Thou shalt not keep company with those more dysfunctional than thyself.
IV.    Trust thy body all the days of thy life (Thy mind doth fornicate with thee)
V.     Thou hast permission at all times to say "No", to change thy mind and to express thy true feelings.
VI.    What is not right for thee is not right for thy brethren.
VII.   Thou shalt not give beyond thine own capacity.
VIII. What thy brethren think of thee matterth naught.
IX.   Wherever thou art, therein lies the party.
X.    Thou shalt sing thine own praises all the days of thy life.

Awesome! Check it out for yourself -It is only 81 pages and is so worth the read!

Affirm:
I am worthy and deserving of feeling good about myself and I surround myself with like minded people

Have a high Esteem Wednesday!

Turn expectations into Invitations

Get Jazzed & Joyful Thought:
Today let go of expectations. Expectations lock you into a finite vision of someone or something. Expectations reflect needs. What you are really saying is "I need you to be this or do this for my comfort level." or "I need this situation to turn out this way so that I can feel better, safer or happier."

Expectations represent fears: "If this doesn't work out the way I want it to I am afraid I won't be able to handle it."
Expectations are demands. Expectations close the mind to any other possibilities. Expectations close our hearts out of fear. Expectations cause stress and disharmony within and without.

Turn expectations into invitations. Invite yourself to consider all possibilities, all solutions. Invite someone to participate in a win win solution. Invite others to brainstorm with you. Invite the Divine into the solution.
An invitation is a request, an offering of connection, an extension of openness, a belief in hope and faith for a positive outcome. Invitations signal you are open to receive. Invitations keep our mind and our heart open in love.
So today invite love in, invite all possibilities in, invite the greater good for all concerned in. Then be patient and wait for the Divine to RSVP.

Affirm:
Today I make requests and extend invitations for positive outcomes.

Have an inviting Friday!

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Tuesday!

Today is Valentines Day. Today children will be going to school clutching their bag full of valentines to give to their classmates and their teachers. They will be eagerly awaiting all the valentines that will be given to them. When they go home they will be excited to show all their valentines to mom and dad.
In the child's view they are excited about love itself! They are excited and eager to show love simply, innocently, fully and completely just for the sake of love itself.
Today let's take our cue from children. Today let's demonstrate true love to everyone we encounter. True love is about unconditional acceptance - so let there be no judgment of self or others today.
True love is a smile and warm glow that won't go away - so share your smile and warm the soul of everyone you meet today.
True love offers compassion and melts the frigid exterior of the most hardened hearts - so offer kindness today to someone who would least expect it.
True love emanates from within so fill your own heart with love of self and let it overflow and spill out to the world.
Put no one outside your heart today. See how wonderful your day unfolds when love is the driving force. It will feel so good you may just want to do it all week!

Affirm:
Today I allow love to color my world.

Have a love filled week!

Take charge of YOU!

Get Jazzed & Joyful Thought:

Today is an excellent day to look at your progress on your goals and resolutions for this New Year.... Now pause for a moment, did your inner critic just get activated? Reminding you of how little progress you have actually made? Perfect! Because right now in this moment is the perfect time to tell your inner critic to sit down, be quiet and take notice that there is a brand new sheriff, YOU, in town!

Right now instead of letting your inner critic run rampant over your thoughts and feelings take a few moments to ponder this:
In reality there is no right or wrong - there is only what is working for you and not working for you - and making adjustments accordingly.

So today, remind yourself in thought, verbally and put it on paper the things that are working for you, all the ways in which you are moving forward to a better you. Now jot down only ONE thing that is NOT working for you - yes I said only ONE. Ask yourself what adjustments can I make on this one thing to either make it work for my highest good OR to let it go? It might be an attitude adjustment, time management adjustment, it might be an awareness of inner resistance, might be making your workspace more cheerful or uncluttered, might be taking a quick break to de-stress, going out into nature to clear the cobwebs from your mind, might be limiting your time in a negative environment or with an emotionally draining person. Put your solution skills to the test and find a way to make an adjustment that works FOR you.
Then remind yourself of your commitment to yourself and all the things that are working - because You are working them.
Now tell your inner critic "You're fired!"
Repeat this process as often as necessary and whittle your not working list down to almost nothing.

Affirm:
I am the C.E.O. of Me and I take charge of my life, my goals and my Mind!

Have a take charge of You Thursday!

Be Resolute in pursuing your Resolutions

Get Jazzed & Joyful Thought:
The early New Year is full of resolutions. In the Webster dictionary resolution is defined as: firmness of purpose; statement of will or intent.

To be resolute is defined as: having a fixed purpose.

So as you make your resolutions this New Year give some careful thought. Develop a clear vision of what you want to create for yourself this year. Then make the commitment to yourself to be resolute in pursuing your goals. Create a powerful statement of intention and post it where you can see it regularly.

Affirm:
I am committed and resolute in pursuing my 2012 goals. I am worthy and deserving of complete resolution in this New Year.

Have a Resolute Thursday!
